Southport Historical Society News

The Historical Society is now located in our new home, next to the Town Hall at 1135 Pennsylvania Avenue.   We plan to have a monthly Open House starting in March. We will be open on the third Sunday from 1PM - 3PM.  Watch for the sign out front.

Soon we will be needing volunteers to help with some projects at the Society.   We have a lot to do organizing the files and the records and artifacts. If you would like to help, contact Linda Taft at 732 6565.

If you are a member of the Historical Society you should have received a renewal card in the mail.  If you are not a member and would like to join, please contact Linda Taft at 732 6565 or Diana Maher at 733 2660.  We have an exciting year ahead and would love to have you join us.

Home Repairs Grant Money
February 24, 2011

Bishop Sheen Housing Foundation.

If you are a homeowner that might benefit from receiving grant money to repair your home in order to remain in your home, there is money available for this purpose. This is an opportunity to have repairs done to your home such as, a new roof, new furnace, new windows, insulation, new siding, or upgrade plumbing and/or electrical.  Your cost as the homeowner, would be either zero, or forty percent (40%) of the total cost, based on your income and the number of people in your household.  For more information call (585) 657-4114 for Bishop Sheen Housing Foundation or visit their website at www.sheenhousing.org   It is a non-profit agency that administers home repair grant monies for low income families, persons with disabilities, veterans and seniors (persons 60 years of age or older). There are homeowners in the area who are already taking advantage of this opportunity.
